02. THE NOMADS "Night Time"/"Boss Hoss" (1982)

In the early eighties, The Nomads were the first garage band to come out of Sweden. In their debuts, they used to play a lot of covers in their own way, treating them bad with raw stoogian guitars and hard rhythm beat. " When somebody wants to do a cover, he plays it directly to the rest of the band without we listen to the record. In that way, we're not trying to copy the original" said Nick in '84. They covered that way Chilton's Bangkok or Revelons' "The way you touch my hand". On this second single, the two covers are Strangeloves' "Night Time" and Sonics" "Boss Hoss". Originally, the songs were only demos but the swedish label Amigo wanted to realised it as single. When recording this songs, The Nomads were reduced to a trio after guitarist Joakim Tarnström left the band to form Shoutless, that's why the singer Nick Vahlberg plays bass and guitar on this single although bassist Tony Carlsson figures on the cover because he was playing with the band when the single came out. Even if the sound might seemed poor in comparaison of the later recordings of the band, this second single shows the personality of The Nomads who influenced all the swedish garage bands of the 80's (from Shoutless to the Sinners). The songs were re-realised on the oop and hard to find CD. But you'd better save your money to buy the last Nomads record "Solna". The boys are still rockin' hard after 30 years!
